Search for your business and read the two grey lines under your name. If they look like a random sentence scraped off your page, your site has no meta description, and Google is choosing the text for you.
A meta description is one sentence you write, invisible on the page itself, that tells Google what to display under your name in search results. If it is missing, Google guesses, often grabbing menu text, an address fragment, or a cookie notice.
People scan search results in a second or two. A listing with garbled description text loses the click to one below it with a clearly written description. You may rank fine and still lose the customer at this step.
Writing one good sentence per important page and setting it in the page's metadata. It is a small change that shows up every time anyone searches you. This is one of the items our $40 tune-up fixes when your platform allows it.
